• December 2023 - My research on the skill of self-control was discussed at a Washington Post article on new years resolutions!
• November 2023 - I was named Research Associate at Technical University Hamburg’s Institute for Ethics in Technology.
• September 2023 - The news outlet Euractiv published an op-ed on our proposal to define ‘subliminal techniques’ for the EU AI Act.
• July 2023 - The interdisciplinary Self-Control in Context Summer School at Externado University (Bogotá) was a wonderful experience and a great success. Thanks to everyone who took part!
• May 2023 - The paper “Temptation and apathy”, coauthored with S. Berthelette, G. Fernández, A. Anaya and D. Rodríguez, is forthcoming at Oxford Studies in Agency and Responsibility!
• February 2023 - Our paper “What is a subliminal technique? An ethical perspective on AI-driven influence”, coauthored with the Imperial REDI team , was just accepted at the IEEE ETHICS-2023 conference! It will be published in the conference proceedings.
• Also February 2023 - Our paper “Moralization and self-control strategy selection“, coauthored with Sam Murray and Felipe de Brigard, was just accepted for publication at Psychonomic Bulletin and Review!
• Also February 2023 - My paper “What is the feeling of effort about?” was just accepted for publication at the Australasian Journal of Philosophy!
• January 2023 - I joined Reform Scholars, a network for academics to share public policy insights in the UK. I’ll be writing about the ethics of government’s use of AI.

2022

• November 2022 - My project Self-Control in Context has been approved for funding by the John Templeton Foundation!
• November 2022 - Our paper “Efforts and their Feelings”, coauthored with Olivier Massin, was just accepted for publication at Philosophy Compass!
• September 2022 - Just started my new position as research associate at Imperial College London’s Positive Computing Lab.
• August 2022 - At Neuchâtel we held the Nature and Value of Effort workshop. It was great to share with a group of wonderful interdisciplinary researchers of effort!
• July 2022 - We presented our paper “Positive and negative self-control” at this year’s SPP/ESPP conference.
• May 2022 - Our paper “Will-powered” (co-authored with Z. Irving, J. Bridges, A. Glasser, and C. Sripada) was just accepted at Cognition!
• April 2022 - We have been invited to present our paper “Positive and negative self-control” at this year’s SPP/ESPP conference.
• March 2022 - We presented our paper “Positive and negative self-control” at the super fun New Orleans Workshop on Agency and Responsibility.

• September 2021 - I gave my talk “What is the feeling of effort about?” at the University of Geneva’s Thumos group.
• July 2021 - The paper "What's inside is all that counts? The contours of everyday thinking about self-control", cowritten with S. Murray, L. Chartrand, and S. Barbosa, was just accepted for publication at Review of Philosophy and Psychology! Preprint here.
• June 2021 - The Topoi special issue 'Habitual Action, Automaticity and Control' I edited with F. Felletti was published! See our introduction to the issue here.
• May 2021 - The paper 'Perceiving utilitarian gradients: heart rate variability and self-regulatory effort in the moral dilemma task' (coauthored with A. Rosas, J. Martínez, D. Aguilar, J. Caicedo and D.M. Aponte) was just accepted by Social Neuroscience! Preprint here.
• April 2021 - Striving and Doing, a workshop on effort and action, took place April 21–23. We had talks by amazing guests and wonderful discussion sessions. The workshop was organized by Olivier Massin and me. You can find abstracts and videos of all the talks here.
• February 2021- The paper “Intentional mind-wandering as intentional omission: The surrealist method” (coauthored with S. Arango) has been accepted for publication at Synthese. here
• January 2021 - My paper “The skill of self-control” has been accepted for publication at Synthese here.

2020

• December 2020 - My piece “Willpower needs tactical skill” (commenting on G. Ainslie’s Willpower with and without effort) will appear in Behavioral and Brain Sciences.
• November 2020 - We received a collaboration award from Free Will LATAM to pursue the project “Self-control and regulatory flexibility” with S. Berthelette, G. Fernández, A. Anaya, D. Rodríguez, and M. Inzlicht.
